Are herbal teas healthy?

Yes, they are – let’s take a look at the benefits

There are many types of herbal teas and studies have shown that some of them are very good for your health; boosting your immune system, reducing oxidative stress and dealing with free radicals. In fact, herbal teas have been used as natural remedies for many ailments for hundreds of years.

Plus, herbal teas can come in a wide range of tastes and flavours which make a tempting alternative to sugary beverages or water. They are prepared from a variety of plants which may include fruits combined with spices, flowers such as those used in chamomile tea, leaves like those used in peppermint tea or roots like those used in ginger tea.

Please note that you should always be careful about the quality of a herbal tea, and check the ingredients before consumption. All our herbal teas here at Honey Heaven are made with passion, using the finest natural ingredients with no artificial flavourings, colourings, or preservatives, and come in aroma-sealing packaging that keeps the tea fresh for months.

What are the health benefits of herbal teas?

Refresh your body

Fancy a cup of tea without caffeine? Then our Organic Refresh Tea is perfect for you. Made with organically grown ingredients this flavourful brew will stimulate the taste buds and refresh the body and mind with its delicious blend of Peppermint, Rose hip, Lavender and Hibiscus.

Peppermint acts as a muscle relaxant and pain reliever, Rose hip with rich in disease-fighting antioxidants such as vitamin C, Lavender which is widely used as a supplement to help with anxiety, depression, and fatigue, and Hibiscus which is used to treat heart and nerve diseases constipation, liver disease right through to cold symptoms.

Or try our Zesty Morning Time Tea which also contains Rose hip and Hibiscus, plus Calendula which is thought to aid and treat digestive issues such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is also used as an adjunct therapy for peptic ulcers, to stimulate the lymphatic system, and to assist with a smooth menstrual flow.

Relax your body

Other herbal teas can have a calming effect on your mind and body; they can help you relax and eliminate stress. If you are suffering from insomnia, some herbal teas may help you fall asleep faster, thus normalising your sleep cycle. We recommend our Organic Night-time Tea which is designed to help soothe after a stressful day and aid peaceful, healthy sleep so you wake refreshed and ready to go in the morning. Peace of mind and well-being in a mug!

It contains Hawthorn berries which are used as an herbal remedy for digestive problems, heart health and high blood pressure as part of traditional Chinese medicine. The tea also contains Hops which, long ago, evidence began to emerge to suggest they have the potential to promote sleep, Lavender (properties as mentioned above) and Chamomile which has been studied for its potential to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which are important indicators of heart disease risk.

Digestion and Weight Management

Some herbal teas are known to be very good for your digestive system, because they promote better digestion and help release toxins from your body. This can help you achieve weight loss goals and also maintain a healthy weight and shape. For this, we would recommend our Oolong Detox Blend with Gingko, Ginger & Cinnamon.

Studies suggest this tea is thought to alkalize the digestive system, reduce inflammation, and also help with reflux. Daily consumption of oolong tea is thought to help you lose weight more effectively through reducing cravings for unhealthy foods by activating enzymes in your body that speed up fat burning and metabolism.
